Barking Regeneration ELT
East London Transit Work Starts
The Mayor of London and Transport for London (TFL) will shortly be introducing the East London Transit (ELT) between Ilford and Dagenham Dock via Barking Town Centre We have been advised that the service has been scheduled to commence in early 2010
The contractors Skanska Infrastructure Services Ltd have given us notice of the work which will be carried out in Bastable Avenue which will take place between 26 January 2009 and the end of October 2009. The work will provide recessed parking bays, new bus stops, a route through the centre of the Ovalabout for buses, changes to the restrictions at the junction of Renwick Road and Bastable Avenue, statutory diversion works as well as works to enhance the appearance of the area.
Road Closures
Due to the complexity of the work it may be necessary for side roads off Bastable Avenue to be closed at certain times. Suitable diversions will be in place allowing access for all residents and to accommodate deliveries.
Barking Town Centre, Station Parade and Ripple Road from Cambridge Road to Axe Street will also be affected. The work which starts on 5 January and the end of July 2009 will include works to provide a new carriageway within the Town Centre, extension of the Pedestrian Zone to the junction of Cambridge Road with Station Parade and Vicarage Drive with Ripple Road, removal of the Bandstand, statutory diversion works as well as works to enhance the appearance of the Town Centre.
Road Closures
Due to the complexity of the works it may be necessary for side roads off Station Parade and Ripple Road to be closed at certain times. Parking bays on Ripple Road will be suspended until the completion of the works.
Barking Market
To coincide with the commencement of works on 5 January the Barking Market will be relocated from Ripple Road and Station Parade to a new location, Market Square,
